New Master of Management program suite
As a result of this review, the Master of Applied Commerce is to be renamed and relaunched as the Master of Management suite. This name change will more clearly align the program with the Melbourne Graduate School of Management, and introduce a degree title that is internationally recognised and consistent with market expectations. The Master of Management will be available from January 2009.
The new Master of Management suite consists of:
- Master of Management
- Master of Management (Accounting)
- Master of Management (Business Analysis and Systems)
- Master of Management (Economics)
- Master of Management (Finance)
- Master of Management (Marketing)
Who should enrol in the Master of Management program?
The Master of Management is a “pre-experience” program for those with little or work experience. It is suitable for recent graduates of any discipline background.
How is the course different to the MAC?
There are three main revisions to the existing course structure. The first is the introduction of a common core of four foundation subjects, followed by 12 subjects of specialised study in discipline areas.
Secondly, all Master of Management programs will be 16 subjects in length, and the existing 12-subject Master of Applied Commerce programs will be discontinued as of semester 1, 2009.
Master of Management students will also participate in a week-long pre-semester program, which will focus on developing a variety of skills such as leadership, communication and case study analysis, as well as providing students with an opportunity to establish connections with their peers across all Master of Management specialisations.
Why has the Melbourne GSM undertaken this change?
The Master of Management is a degree title that is internationally recognised and its introduction offers a consolidated program for graduates of the University Of Melbourne New Generation degrees as well as recent graduates from other universities.
