Support Services

The Melbourne GSM recognises that students can experience difficulties in negotiating the University environment, particularly in the early stages. We offer various student services such as the Teaching and Learning Unit (TLU) and Graduate Careers Centre to help make your life as a student easier.

The University of Melbourne offers an extensive variety of other support services available to all students, including childcare, counselling, a health service and financial aid, just to name a few. We strongly encourage our students to take advantage of all other University services on offer.

If you are unsure where to go to for help, please contact us and we can refer you to an appropriate professional.

Students who have been significantly affected by illness or other serious circumstances (not ongoing) during the exam period can apply for Special Consideration.

Any student who fails a compulsory subject, or more than 50% of subjects attempted in any semester will be invited to attend a Student at Risk meeting, and any student who fails more than 50% of attempted subjects in two consecutive semesters, fails a subject twice, or fails any subject after receiving a warning letter will be invited to attend an Unsatisfactory Progress Committee meeting.
