The Melbourne GSM offers research and research-oriented programs, including the PhD and masters degrees. These programs develop students’ advanced theoretical knowledge and research capabilities, in preparation for academic and other research-focused careers.

Masters Degrees by Research

Master of Commerce by Thesis (in the area of Actuarial Studies) - Supervised research on an approved topic may be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis in the discipline of Actuarial Studies.

Master of Commerce in Management (by Advanced Seminar and Shorter Thesis)

These degrees are coursework programs that incorporate a research project, and offer pathways to a PhD for interested students.

Pathways to the PhD

The Master of Commerce (Economics) and the Master of Commerce (Finance) are coursework programs that incorporate a research project. The Master of Commerce in Management (By Advanced Seminar and Shorter Thesis) is classified as a research degree. All of these programs offer pathways to PhD study for interested students.
