Master of International Business
Overview
The Master of International Business is designed to develop the capabilities and resources of managers in the global economy. It is ideal for those of you seeking to establish or accelerate an international business career.
Emphasising the practical application of specialised knowledge, the program will equip you with management skills tailored for the international business environment.
The MIB focuses on strategic planning for international operations and provides an in-depth understanding of the organisational capabilities required for international operations, including specialised functions such as international marketing, finance and HRM.
Program structure
Subjects
- Depending on your existing qualifications, the MIB will be either a 12 or a 16 subject program
Duration
- 12-subject program: 18 months of full-time or three years of part-time study
- 16-subject program: two years of full-time or four years of part-time study
Availability
- International students can only complete the program on a full-time basis

On successful completion of the MIB, you should be able to:
- Identify and apply the theories, models and concepts appropriate to solving the problems you will face as a manager in international business
- Analyse and synthesise different theories, models and concepts
- Critically evaluate the applied value of different theories, models and concepts in addressing the problems facing managers operating in a global environment
- Apply a range of analytical approaches to critically evaluate complex issues confronting managers in international business
- Formulate and communicate, both orally and in writing, a response to problems facing firms operating internationally.

Minimum entry requirements
The Master of International Business is offered in two streams depending on your existing qualifications:
- 12 subject program - an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent, and at least two years of documented work and/or professional experience
- 16 subject program - an undergraduate degree in any discipline, or equivalent, plus at least two years of documented work and/or professional experience.
Additional requirements :
- A minimum score of 550 in the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)
- A personal statement
The Selection Committee may conduct interviews and tests and may call for referee reports or employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.

Exit points
If you are either unable, or choose not to continue with your studies, you may be eligible to exit with a Graduate Certificate in International Business. You must have successfully completed a minimum of four International Business core subjects to be eligible.
