Master of Human Resource Management
Overview
The Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) is a specialist program intended for existing human resources (HR) professionals and managers. It is also suited to line managers, who are increasingly expected to deal with HR issues and who need to develop a sound knowledge of HR practices.
With its strong foundation of human resources principles, practices and strategy, you will come away with a clear understanding of the complex interactions linking an organisation's success to its human resources systems.
You will develop advanced skills and analytical capabilities that will allow you to play a major role in the development of a competitive organisation.
Program structure
Subjects
- Eight compulsory and four elective subjects
- Students who have never studied economics, commerce, business or a similar discipline will be required to undertake 325-490 Business Fundamentals in place of one elective subject

Duration
- 18 months of full-time or three years of part-time study
Availability
- International students can only complete the program on a full-time basis

- Have knowledge and comprehension of the main approaches to managing people at work and the range of factors that influence HRM practices
- Be able to analyse and evaluate the human resource policies and practices used in different organisations
- Be capable of applying knowledge and theories of HRM to present and future situations
- Be able to develop, implement and operate HRM systems.
| In addition, you will gain professional recognition by being automatically eligible for Member status with the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). Master of HRM graduates with two years of AHRI membership and five years of professional HR experience are eligible for Certified Professional status (CAHRI). | ![]() |
Minimum entry requirements
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent
- At least two years of documented relevant work experience
- A minimum score of 550 in the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)
- A personal statement
- The Selection Committee may conduct interviews and tests and may call for referee reports or employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.

Exit points
If you are either unable, or choose not to continue with your studies, you may be eligible to exit with either:
- Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management - you must have successfully completed a total of eight subjects, four of which must be core subjects, and be in good standing
- Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management - you must have successfully completed a total of four subjects, three of which must be core subjects, and be in good standing.
