Melbourne GSM Pre-semester Program
From 2009, all commencing Master of Management students will be required to attend an exciting new 5-day academic orientation program. Interested students from all other Melbourne GSM programs are also encouraged to participate.
The Pre-Semester Program will provide students from diverse backgrounds with a valuable opportunity to build a shared academic foundation, to develop essential study and professional skills, to establish friendships and transition into student life, and to familiarise themselves with the University and the Melbourne GSM before classes begin.
The program has been designed around a case study, which will enable students' to work together in teams over the 5-day duration of the program to solve a realistic business challenge. Teams will then present their case solution to a panel of University staff on the final day of the program.
Completion of the case study as well as an accompanying series of workshops delivered by senior academic staff and industry experts will build essential skills required for graduate studies in the Melbourne GSM including business problem solving, teamwork, case analysis, career development, presentation and report writing skills.
International students will find the extra week to adjust to the rigorous academic environment and the Australian way of life especially helpful.
Please note that this not-for-credit program is free to all commencing students.
The dates for the program in Semester 2, 2009 are: Monday 20 July- Friday 24 July
More details about the Pre-Semester Program will be available on the Melbourne GSM website in April 2009: http://www.melbournegsm.unimelb.edu.au/
