Our research into a wide range of macroeconomic, microeconomic and social-economic issues seeks to promote deeper understanding and discussion, as well as to foster effective policy responses to these issues through evidence-based quantitative research.
Program structure
The PhD program at the Melbourne Institute consists of three years of full-time or six years of part-time study. It has two components: coursework and hands-on research experience.
The coursework consists of six semester-length subjects, normally comprising three core subjects, three elective subjects and a year long (double subject) Thesis Workshop.
The research component introduces students to a wide range of research questions and methodologies, with hands-on experience in the diversity of active projects at the Institute.
Please visit the Course and Subject Handbook for current subject information.
