How and when to apply for research programs
While the Melbourne GSM accepts applications to Research Higher Degrees at any time, in order to be considered for a research scholarship, all applicants must submit their application by 31 October (for entry to Semester 1, 2010).
Step 1. Establish the research area of interest
You will need to write a clear and specific 600 – 700 word research proposal to submit with your application. If there is a particular member of staff with whom you would like to work, please specify this in your proposal. Please do not contact individual supervisors, you are not required to find a supervisor prior to submitting your application.
Please visit Department websites for details of current research activity and to find out if there are academic staff with expertise in your area of interest:
- Accounting and Business Information Systems
- Economics
- Finance
- Management and Marketing
- Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research
Step 2. Consider the following questions
- Have you investigated the different degree options, such as research Masters or PhD?
- Do you meet the eligibility requirements for the degree you’re interested in? Please contact the department you are interested in pursuing your PhD through for more information about your eligibility.
- Have you investigated scholarships and fees?
