How and when to apply for coursework programs
1.Application closing dates
Local applicants
The application closing dates for graduate programs are:
Timely applications
- Semester 1 (February) entry: 30 November
- Semester 2 (July) entry: 31 May
Late applications
Applications submitted after these dates will be accepted. However, late applicants may miss the opportunity to be considered for Commonwealth Supported Places and other scholarships.
International applicants
Closing dates
Late applications may be accepted in special circumstances, however students are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid visa delays.
- Diplomas and Masters by coursework:
Semester 1: 31 October (for commencement in the following year)
Semester 2: 30 April
2. Submit your application
Please ensure that you address all the application requirements for your program. You do not have to wait for the application deadline to submit your application, and you are encouraged to apply as early as possible. You may apply even if you are awaiting final academic results, as conditional offers can be made.
A waiver of the international application fee is available to students who submit their GMAT at the time of application
3. Assessment and notification
Applications will be assessed on a continuous basis. You will be informed of the outcome of your application within 4 four weeks of applying.
Credit and exemption
Applications for credit or exemption should normally be submitted to the Melbourne GSM at the time of application or before enrolment is finalised. For studies not undertaken at The University of Melbourne, applicants need to provide:
- a certified copy of transcript of results for the subject/s for which credit is sought and
- a full copy of the subject outline from the year the subject/s was completed.

Local applicants
A local applicant is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
Local applicants are required to complete the Graduate (coursework) Application Form (PDF 488KB) and submit the completed form to the Melbourne Graduate School of Management. This form is also available from the Melbourne Graduate School of Management Student Centre (see contact details).
International applicants
International applicants may apply in one of three ways:
