Entry to the Postgraduate Diploma in Economics requires that the candidate possess a degree from a recognised Australian university, or its equivalent, which satisfies the following prerequisites:

• 12.5 points of study at 300 level in each of macroeconomics and microeconomics, to the levels of 316-312 Macroeconomics and 316-316 Microeconomics (specifically a microeconomics subject using calculus optimisation methods), respectively,
• 12.5 points of study at 200 level in quantitative methods or econometrics; and
• at least a 70% (H2B) average for the 300 level subjects.

Admission to the Postgraduate Diploma is in Semester 1 only.

Postgraduate Diploma
in Finance

A four year Australian honours degree in economics of at least second class honours (H2B - 70%) or successful completion of a preliminary course, normally the Postgraduate Diploma in Economics, at an overall standard of at least second class honours (H2B - 70%). Applicants should note that the course assumes ability to cope with work of Honours degree standard.

In either case, the applicant must have completed successfully at the 400 level:

• 12.5 points of study at 400 level in each of microeconomics and macroeconomics, to the levels of 316-402 Advanced Microeconomics and 316-403 Advanced Macroeconomics, respectively; and
• a 12.5 point 300 level econometrics subject at the level of 316-317 Econometrics.

The Selection Committee may conduct interviews and tests and may call for referee reports or
employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.
